Making the Most of Lectures

Making the Most of Lectures

Turning up is only half the battle. What you do during and after a lecture determines whether it actually sticks.

Listen actively

Do not try to transcribe every word. Focus on understanding the main ideas, note down key concepts and anything that surprises you. If something is unclear, write a question to follow up on later.

Review and connect

Within 24 hours, spend 10 minutes reviewing your notes. Fill in gaps, highlight key points and connect them to your wider reading. This single habit dramatically improves retention.
