Looking After Your Mental Health

Looking After Your Mental Health

University is exciting, but it can also be stressful. Looking after your mental health is just as important as attending lectures — and there is no shame in asking for help.

Build a routine

Regular sleep, some exercise and time outdoors make a bigger difference than you might expect. Structure gives your brain something to anchor to, especially during busy periods like deadlines and exams.

Know where to get support

Every university has a counselling service — and it is free. Your GP can also help. If things feel urgent, the Samaritans are available 24/7 on 116 123. You do not have to wait until things are really bad to reach out.
